While Niche Inspector is great for day to day keyword research and perfect for uncovering hidden niches, sometimes you need a bit more power. Keyword Elite provides that power and more!

Keyword Elite is a highly sophisticated program from Brad Callen, a guy who is known for his attention to detail, superb customer service and tireless support. As far as keyword research tools go, it is the Rolls Royce. The gold standard.

Where Niche Inspector is for day-to-day use and fast research, Keyword Elite comes into its own when you have a big job to run. The program has five modules, or projects:

Project 1: Create a Keyword List.

This is the core of Keyword Elite. It allows you to build keyword lists pretty much as long as you like. The program gets data from all kinds of sources: Overture, Ask.com, the Google suggestion tool, websites' meta tags, Yahoo or misspelled keywords. you can import data from Keyword Discovery and/or Wordtracker too.

As Keyword Elite digs deep into each keyword the list of words and phrases that you can create can be enormous. You can set limits, thankfully!

Project 2:  Analyze PPC Listings.

This is where the data is applied to the keyword lists. Set it running and your list will be populated with all the data you could ever need: search numbers, Google results, PPC ad counts and potential click values and so on.

Up to this point, Keyword Elite does little more than Niche Inspector, and as far as results are concerned, NI may even have the edge because it give you data based on Google, MSN and Yahoo rather than Google alone. However, it is in the other three modules that Keyword Elite becomes really powerful.

Project 3: Select a Keyword List.

Keyword Elite has a database of (currently) over 2 million search phrases and you can enter a keyword to be matched agains that huge list. The result is a very fast way to get a list of keywords.

Project 4: Analyze Keyword Competition.

In this module you give Keyword Elite a keyword and it fetches the top listings from Google (you can choose how many). It then analyzes the pages and gives you a report on how the keyword is used on each page - against a lot of different measures.

This is a very useful tool to see how your SEO compares to the top listed sites for your keywords.

Project 5: Spy on AdWords Competition

This is an odd, but very useful addition. After you've set it all up, Keyword Elite will automatically keep an eye on your competition and monitor their AdWords advertising. It will check which keywords they are targeting and give you regular reports that will keep you several steps ahead of the crowd.

One thing I particularly like about Brad Callen and his company is that they go to great lengths to keep the software up-to-date with all the latest odd changes that the search engines inflict on everyone. Keyword Elite automatically checks to see if an update is available whenever you fire it up. Updates are frequently posted, which is very good news.
