Build a Web Site

Let me start by being completely honest with you.

You don't actually need to buy any special tools to help you build web sites. Pretty much everything you need is either already on your computer or is available free.

So why do people spend so much money on special tools? Are they crazy, or do they know something?

Let me give you some examples.

Website Builders

Websites are nothing more than specially written text files. If you have a good knowledge of the language they are written in, usually HTML (and more recently CSS), there is nothing to stop you writing as many webpages as you like in good old NotePad - the text editor that is included in Windows. Mac users have a similar option.

But you know what? Coding a webpage by hand is a lengthy and boring process.

For example, this is how the underlying code that makes up this page - the one you are looking at right now - could look:

And that's without images, any background colors or any text! The actual page is a whole lot more complicated - trying viewing the source code to see what I mean.

Of course you can learn to write that stuff - I code up odd pages by hand all the time, but then I'm a bit of a geek.

Normal people quickly realize that their time is far more valuable when spent on the important things like product creation or marketing your website than on the time-consuming, tedious task of building it.

That's why most professional online marketers use software to build their sites for them. All you have to do is point and click and a great looking site is created in a fraction of the time you could code it yourself.

This website, and a lot of the niche sites that I build, is made with XSitePro.

I also use a great program from David Watson called Website Article Wizard which automates the creation of a special kind of site that can be monetized with AdSense or affiliate products.
